Someone discovered a decomposing body near Bartlett High School on Monday, according to Anchorage police, who are investigating the circumstances of the person's death.
The person who found the remains called police about 6 p.m. Monday, police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in a written statement. Officers later located the remains in woods near the 1100 block of Golden Bear Drive, Castro said.
"There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body and no immediate evidence of foul play," she said. "An autopsy and investigation is being conducted to try to determine the identity of the body and the cause of death."
