Chugiak sweeps

Chugiak Post 33 swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader against Kenai Post 20 on Wednesday, winning 6-3 in a league game and 11-8 in a non-league game at Oberg Field.

Sparked by a 2-run double from Dallas Pierren in the first inning, Kenai took a 3-0 lead in the first game. Chugiak came back to tie it at 3-3 in the fourth and put away the win with two runs in the sixth and another in the eighth and final inning.

Chase Gall led the way for the Mustangs with two hits. Blake Kutch struck out four in six innings to get the win and the Chugiak defense came up with three double plays.

A five-run sixth inning sealed Chugiak's second win. Alex Hess ripped two hits for the Mustangs, with Chase Wilson, Alex Bozzo and Conner Cimmiyotti each adding a hit.

Kenai's Brian Rowe belted two hits and drew a walk, with Justice Miller driving in two runs on a first-inning single.

Wasilla 15, Dimond 3

Wasilla Post 35 blasted Dimond Post 3 with a 15-3 victory in an American Legion baseball game at Chad Bax Field on Tuesday.

Jacob Butcher and Jonathan Boyer each racked three hits and scored four times for Wasilla. Boyer also handled the mound work for Wasilla, striking out 12 in a complete, seven-inning game.
