Anchorage sports report for Saturday, June 15

Time is running out to sign up for Saturday's 40th annual Mayor's Marathon and Half-Marathon.

Wednesday is the last day to register by mail or online.

However, in-person registration -- at a higher cost -- will be available Thursday and Friday at the Anchorage Sheraton.

Runners who have already registered must pick up their bibs and race packets on one of these days, because there will be no bib pickup on race day. Registration and bib pickup runs from 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the Sheraton.

The 26.2-mile marathon and four-leg marathon relay begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at Bartlett High.

All of the others races -- the 13.1-mile half-marathon, a four-miler and the two-mile Youth Cup, start and finish at the west end of Delaney Park Strip, which is also where the marathon ends.

The finish line is new this year -- in previous years, all events ended at West High. Construction at and around the high school will prevent a West High finish this year.
