Begich announces Alaska Small Business Owners of the Year, Doug Coon and Justin Herrin

Owners of Young's Gear LLC in Anchorage

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich today congratulated Doug Coon and Justin Herrin, who were both named Alaska Small Business Person of the Year for 2013 by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Herrin and Coon own Young's Gear LLC, a car and truck repair shop in Anchorage which specializes in drivetrain repair.

"As one of the few small business owners in the Senate, I have a special respect for the hard work these men and women do every day to keep their businesses running smoothly and contributing to our economy," said Begich. "These guys really know how to keep Alaskans ready for all kinds of weather. Alaska small businesses like Young's Gear are without a doubt the drivers of our economy and I am proud to recognize these two Alaskans."

This week marks the 50th anniversary of Small Business Week, which takes place between June 17 and June 21 this year. Senator Begich is a co-sponsor of a Senate Resolution formally recognizing the entrepreneurial spirit of small business owners and calling for the administration and Congress to continue to support small businesses.
