Injured hiker rescued from Flattop

An Anchorage man was rescued by helicopter from Flattop Mountain early Saturday after he was injured hiking, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Another hiker found Brian Patrick O'Quinn, 41, of Anchorage, at about 7:15 a.m., according to a trooper dispatch posted online. The hiker reported that O'Quinn had fallen and sustained a head injury.

A LifeMed helicopter called to the scene landed a few hundred feet from O'Quinn. LifeMed staff worked with members of the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group to get the man on the helicopter, which transported him to an Anchorage hospital at 9:45 a.m., according to troopers.

O'Quinn's injuries were not life-threatening, troopers said.

This is the third rescue from the popular Anchorage mountain in the past three weekends.
