The Goldpanners did most of their damage late, scoring twice in the sixth, three times in the seventh and once in the eighth. The three-run seventh, which included two run-scoring errors by the Bucs on a single play, gave the Goldpanners a 7-3 lead.

The Bucs led 3-0 after two innings.

Miners 5, Chinooks 4

Nick LaFace drove in the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the Mat-Su Miners to a 5-4 victory over the visiting Chugiak Chinooks.

LaFace's walkoff hit scored John Williams, who reached with a leadoff single off Devin Stanton.

Chugiak outhit the Miners 12-7 and led 3-0 after two innings, but the Miners grabbed the lead with a four-run third inning. Christin Stewart's two-run single highlighted the rally.

Pilots-Oilers suspended

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots' pitching staff kept its scoreless streak in tact Tuesday night -- mostly because the pitching mound at Mulcahy Stadium was damaged beyond immediate repair and the scoreless game was suspended in the second inning.

The game was delayed for 11/2 hours in the top of the second for groundskeepers to make repairs to the mound. The game resumed shortly after 9 p.m., but the repair job lasted only long enough for Oilers pitcher Billy Strode to throw three pitches.

The teams will resume play Monday at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, Wednesday's regularly scheduled doubleheader will go on as planned beginning at 6 p.m.
