Letter: Marriage, government a bad mix

The question of same sex marriage has been screwed up by the government. The government should not be involved in marriage and should not be profiting from any marriage via licensing.

Marriage is a religious ceremony, not a government contract. If a religion wants to perform same sex marriage, then so be it. If not, too bad. Find one that does.

With that, the tax code needs to be changed so there is no benefit for being married. In fact, all we need is a simple tax of either paying a percentage of your income or a percentage of your purchases, nothing else.
