Alaska Baseball League for Friday, June 28

Miners 7, Pilots 3

Gavin Glanz pitched eight masterful innings Friday to carry the Miners to a 7-3 win over the Pilots at Mulcahy Stadium.

A righthander from Oral Roberts, Glanz gave up one hit and one walk while striking out five. He retired the last 11 batters he faced.

The Pilots went to work against his replacement, Dylan Stuart, to spoil the shutout in the bottom of the ninth inning with three runs on a walk, a double and a Jacob Rice home run.

Christin Stewart drove in runs in the fourth and seventh inning to spark Mat-Su at the plate.

The win gives the Miners a share of first place in the league with the Bucs, who were idle Friday.

Goldpanners 6, Oilers 0

A pair of southpaws helped the Goldpanners subdue the Oilers 6-0 Friday in Fairbanks.

Drew Mitrisin and Cody Moffett combined for a four-hit, one-walk shutout. Mitrisin allowed three hits and one walk for the win, and Moffett gave up one hit while striking out three in the final 32/3 innings for the save.

They got plenty of support from their offense, which generated 11 hits and exploded for five runs in the seventh inning. Chance Abreth's two-run homer was the big hit in the big inning.

Fireworks on the 4th

Mulcahy Stadium will be the scene of the city's fireworks display on the Fourth of July next week.

The Bucs and Pilots will play at doubleheader beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, with fireworks following at midnight.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for the games and the fireworks.
