Alaska sports digest for Saturday, July 6

Two records fell Saturday in the third annual Hatcher Pass Marathon, in which Palmer's Marina Fleming became the first woman to finish the race in less than four hours, and Anchorage's Matt Crow, Tony Tomisch and Dugan Greenwell combined efforts to set a relay team record.

Eagle River's Shane Hargis won the men's race in 3 hours, 29 minutes, 3 seconds. The non-certified marathon course of 26.2 miles follows Willow Fishhook Road from the Willow Creek bridge at Shirley Towne Drive in Willow over the pass to the finish near Independence Mine State Park.

Fleming clocked 3:50:41 in the Willow Running Club event, topping her nearest competitor by more than 12 minutes and breaking Shawn McTaggart's record of 4:01:29, set in 2012.

Crow, Tomisch and Greenwell, going by the team name "Kicking Pass & Taking Names," posted 3:01:09 to break the old team relay record of 3:05:21 set in 2011.

Dimond 9, Bartlett 1

Getting three hits and two RBIs from Tony Hillman, Dimond Post 21 rolled past Bartlett Post 29 in a 9-1 win Saturday in the Todd Ryan Memorial Tournament, an American Legion baseball event at McManus Field in Wasilla.

Grant Remmer added a single, double, run and RBI for Dimond, which also got a hit from Quentin Denny along with a run and RBI from Byron Lowe.

Dwayne Wilson singled and stole a base for Bartlett, and Wynter Gross tripled, stole two bases and scored.
