Letter: Infrastructure, not PFDs, needed

So, Alaska ranks dead last in the condition of our roads in spite of the fact that we have one of — if not the — largest budget surpluses of any state. No state taxes and a free PFD for everyone who has lived here for a year.

How about no free check and use the money to fix the roads and schools and invest in clean renewable rural energy and other needed fixes? The Seward Highway is in need of major upgrades, along with most other roads in Alaska.

If not now, when? When will we have the kind of money we have now to invest in infrastructure?
