Longtime Alaska blues/jazz/r&b singer Soulman Sam returns to Anchorage for shows at Blues Central, 825 W. Northern Lights Blvd., 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Blues Central All Stars will be backing him up. $15 at the door.

Palmer Midsummer Garden & Art Faire

Love rhubarb? Head to the Valley for the Garden & Art Faire, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday on the Green in downtown Palmer. Taste special rhubarb dishes and beverages and cast your vote for the best recipe. There's also a scavenger hunt, live music and workshops on art, cooking, gardening and sustainable living. Jul' Yule

Santa and Mrs. Claus join Hurricane Dave and friends in a program of Christmas music to raise money for local charities. Revolution

A Beatles tribute band, Revolution, will play the hits of the Fab Four at 7 p.m. Saturday in Wendy Williamson Auditorium at UAA. Only one show, but it'll be a goody -- estimated to run three hours with intermission. Tickets are $50. (brownpapertickets.com)

Dropkick Murphys

The International Brotherhood of Firefighters is bringing heat to Spenard on Saturday by sponsoring the American Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys for one outrageous all-ages outdoor show under the historic Kut Rate Kid windmill at Chilkoot Charlie's. These guys say they'll play the gig come rain or shine; no word on what happens if it snows. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with opening bands to be announced. $38. brownpapertickets.com)
