Goldpanners 3, Pilots 1

The Fairbanks Goldpanners continued their hot streak and extended their lead in the ABL standings to two games with a 3-1 win over the visiting Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Growden Memorial Park on Friday.

The Goldpanners (14-6), who received a boost from a two-RBI performance from Nick Catalano, have won seven of their last eight games. The second-place Mat-Su Miners (15-11) were idle Friday.

Fairbanks starting pitcher Nathan Bannister struck out seven in seven scoreless innings to earn a win, with Kevin Sprague closing the last two innings for his eighth save.

Kewby Meyer led the Pilots with three hits, driving in Brody Russell for the Pilots only run in the top of the ninth inning.

Oilers 5, Bucs 0

Peninsula Oilers starter Logan McAnallen pitched seven scoreless innings Friday and reliever Colby Blueberg took care of the final two in a 5-0 shutout of the Anchorage Bucs at Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.

The Oilers outhit the Bucs 12-3, scoring one run in the second inning, two in the fifth and one apiece in the seventh and eighth. A.J. Ramirez drove in two runs on two hits and Mike Weiland scored a pair of runs and drove in another on two hits.

Lawton Langford, Collin Ferguson and Chase Compton each recorded hits for the Bucs.
