Jonrowe will join Mushers Hall of Fame on July 21

Iditarod fan favorite and perennial contender DeeDee Jonrowe will be inducted into the Mushers' Hall of Fame next Sunday at the Knik Museum.

The July 21 ceremony will be part of the museum's annual potluck picnic.

Jonrowe, who lives in Willow, recorded her 16th top-10 finish in this year's Iditarod. She has twice finished as the runnerup in the 1,000-mile sled-dog race from Anchorage to Nome.

She joins a Hall of Fame that includes more than a dozen mushers, including Nome serum-run legend Leonhard Seppala and his lead dog Balto.

The event, sponsored by the Wasilla-Knik Historical Society, begins at 1 p.m. It will include a mail delivery by a team of sled dogs.

The museum is located at Mile 13.9, Knik-Goose Bay Road. All are invited to bring a dish to share and take part in the festivities. For more information, call 907-376-7755 or 907-376-2005.
