The recent acquittal of Mr. Zimmerman was a long thought-out decision by an impartial jury who took justice seriously. They were not swayed by public opinion, interfering politicians, nor a biased media who wanted to sensationalize the race angle. Trayvon Martin's death was a tragic ending for a young man's life, but the legal system was utilized, and the outcome of a fair trial has to be accepted. People who continue to try to lynch a man who was found innocent, by threatening, and worst of all, exacerbating the racial divide, need to take a long hard look at themselves.
Are they taking us back to the time when black Americans were automatically and unfairly found guilty by public pressure? Do they now want to subject a Hispanic citizen to the same treatment? Hopefully our justice system has moved far beyond biased emotionalism. The six jurors' conscientious use of the law for their recent verdict give rise to that hope.
