Seaview Community Services has new executive director

SEAVIEW COMMUNITY SERVICES ANNOUNCEMENT

SeaView Community Services Governing Board announces its selection of Christine Sheehan as the new SeaView Executive Director. Founded in 1972, SeaView is a local non-profit agency providing community based services that strengthen families, foster self-sufficiency and enhance quality of life. SeaView has been without an executive director almost two years since the departure of Bernie Jarriel.

Chris has lived in the Seward area since 1988 and is a marine biology graduate of Southeastern Massachusetts University, with continuing education in computer programming and radiological health physics. Chris is a former squadron commander and mission pilot with the Seward Civil Air Patrol, and former EMT I/firefighter with the Bear Creek Fire Department. Currently she serves on the AVTEC Information Technology Advisory Board. Chris resides in the Seward area with her husband Jim. Their two adult children attended Seward schools and graduated from Seward High.

Chris has fifteen years of experience in information technology and for the past ten years has been a part-time statewide coordinator for community development activities, focusing on child character development, empowerment of junior youth (12-14), and building the capacity of individuals for service to their communities. Chris is experienced in administration, management of human resources, and grant writing. She will continue in her part-time work with statewide community development.

Chris most recently served as SeaView's Information Technology Director, and as one of the team of SeaView directors acting in the absence of an Executive Director. The Director Team, on which Chris was an integral part, had been responsible for the day to day operations at SeaView, and the Board anticipates an easy transition. The Board appreciates the efforts of the Director Team and all SeaView staff for their dedication to the SeaView mission, clients and the Seward community. The hard work of all staff is recognized and has not gone unnoticed.

Chris has a well-adapted analytical mind that will move SeaView further in its mission. The Board looks forward to working with her. She will be an effective leader of SeaView and a passionate advocate for SeaView clients, families and the community, and will inspire the individuals and other organizations with whom we partner.
