Saturday in the Alaska Baseball League

The Anchorage Bucs put on an offensive show Saturday at Mulcahy Stadium to post their second straight lopsided victory in the two-day Alaska Baseball League's Scout Showcase.

The Bucs took down the Chugiak Chinooks 10-1 in the last of three seven-inning non-league games. The Mat-Su Miners also nailed down a second Showcase win, defeating the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 3-2, and the Fairbanks Goldpanners played to tie for the second straight day, scoring two in the bottom of the seventh to knot it up 2-2 with the Peninsula Oilers.

The Bucs used a five-run fourth inning and a three-run sixth inning to pull away. The Bucs racked 12 hits, four of which came in the fourth inning, in which a Matt Daugherty two-run single highlighted the action.

Collin Ferguson scored twice and recorded two hits for the Bucs, who used six pitchers to hold Chugiak to two hits. Collin Radack and Griffin Gum each came up with singles for the Chinooks.

Mat-Su's Patrick McGrath provided two hits in the Miners' win, cracking a solo home run in the top of the sixth that put the Miners ahead 3-1.

The Pilots' Brody Russell stole a base and scored from second on a Jacob Rice single to make it 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, but Mat-Su reliever Beau Hilton pitched a scoreless final inning to preserve the win.

The Goldpanners took advantage of errors by the Oilers to avoid defeat. Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh, Nolan Meadows scored from third on a throwing error and Alex Robanowitz did the same to even things up.
