Starter Garrett Mundell continued to baffle ABL hitters -- he has not surrendered a run in his last four appearances -- and made Collin Ferguson's first-inning blast Tuesday night stand up for the Anchorage Bucs in a 3-0 seven-inning win over the Peninsula Oilers at Mulcahy Stadium.

Ferguson bashed a three-run home run over the right field wall to account for all the scoring.

In the late game, the Bucs raced to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings -- third baseman Ryan Leonards scored one run and doubled home two more -- but the Oilers chipped their way back to forge a 4-4 tie through the scheduled seven-inning game. The game was in extra innings as the Daily News went to press.

Pitching ruled at Loretta French Field in Chugiak.

Chugiak Chinooks right-hander Asa Johnson limited the Fairbanks Goldpanners to three hits and one run, and pitched into the sixth inning to spearhead a 3-1 Chinooks victory in seven innings.

But the Goldpanners bounced back for a 2-0 win in the nightcap when Michael Bennett, Matt Milke and Kevin Sprague combined on a two-hitter over seven innings.

Fairbanks' Payden Cawley-Lamb scored on a bases-loaded wild pitch in the top of the sixth and singled home an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
