In her Sunday column (Aug. 4) Shannyn Moore prejudged the Overreach Summit scheduled for August 12-13 in Anchorage by the Citizen’s Advisory Commission on Federal Areas (CACFA).
The meeting’s announcement intrigued me. Invited presenters were asked “to share their perspectives and frustrations on any decisions and actions by Federal regulatory and land management agencies” but “more importantly we want to hear your suggestions on how to mitigate those impacts, avoid future ones and improve our working relations with Federal agencies,” a rather difficult task.
But as an invited presenter and miner I intend to document real past problems and suggest some strategies that might at least mitigate future ones. All invitees have long involvement with land issues and are qualified to make suggestions. I’m sure that they will try.
