Letter: Scouts' policy opposes Bible

Scouts' policy opposes Bible

As an Eagle Scout and a Christian pastor, I am addressing Anchorage Baptist Temple's decision regarding the Boy Scouts. As a "sponsor" of a troop, the church was expected by the Boy Scouts to "include Scouting as part of its (ABT's) overall program." National Scout leadership has changed its membership policy, making it conflict with biblical values. The God of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is gracious enough to tell us the difference between right and wrong. Wrong is called "sin." Sin destroys people and cultures. Do we really want a culture in which anything goes? What about stealing? Or murder? The loving Jesus taught that ALL of God's laws are good. He forgives, then commands, "Go and sin no more." Shouldn't we expect churches to teach children the difference between right and wrong?
