Troopers: Neighbors' fireworks habit drove cabin owner to threaten with shotgun

An Eagle River man was arrested Friday after he brandished a shotgun at his Susitna Valley cabin neighbors, angry that they were lighting fireworks off a community dock, the Alaska State Troopers said Sunday.

Talkeetna troopers were called on Friday night at 11 p.m. to the Eagles Nest recreational cabin subdivision, located on the Kashwitna River north of Willow, said AST spokeswoman Beth Ipsen.

James Juliussen, 64, showed the shotgun to his neighbors, including a mother and children, because he was tired of them shooting fireworks off a community dock, Ipsen said.

"He came down and told them enough was enough with the fireworks," she said.

Troopers arrested Juliussen for third degree assault for putting his neighbors "in imminent fear of serious physical injury."
