Two-time defending champions Marc McKenna and Dusty VanMeter are among the 25 early team entries to next year's Iron Dog snowmachine race.

McKenna and VanMeter cruised to victory last winter in the 2,000-mile race from Big Lake to Nome to Fairbanks, bagging McKenna's fourth title and VanMeter's fifth. They won the 2012 race in record time, completing the course in 35 hours, 39 minutes, 56 seconds.

Scott Davis, who owns an Iron Dog record seven titles, will team with his son, Cory Davis, after finishing fifth last year with Todd Palin for a teammate. Palin, who owns four titles, will team with Tyler Huntington, who won the race with Chris Olds in 2010 and 2011. Olds is signed up as well, this time with Mike Morgan.

Trail class entries open Sept. 16, and both pro and trail class entries remain open until Oct. 31.
