How to help make flying safer in Alaska skies

The Alaska Air Carriers Association and its Joint Safety Committee have been exploring ways to make aviation safe in the midst of increasing obstructions across Alaska.

We have been dialoguing with others involved in the aviation community, and are hoping the time is right to explore options for the safe placement, marking and lighting of obstructions.

AACA will form a working group to explore options adopted by other states and determine their applicability to Alaska. We plan to have air carriers, general aviation pilots, aviation group representatives, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Safety, FAA, FCC and other stakeholders work with us toward a methodical approach to the challenges of healthy growth in the midst of a state heavily reliant upon aviation.
