Alaska Railroad seeks new president and CEO

The Alaska Railroad Corporation Board of Directors is now accepting applications for the position of president and chief executive officer of the Alaska Railroad.

The president and CEO position is responsible for the day-to-day management of the affairs and operations of the corporation. The position reports directly to the seven-member Alaska Railroad Board of Directors.

The Alaska Railroad is seeking a decisive leader with strong business experience. Applicants should have experience in the transportation industry or have an in-depth understanding of supply chain management. Experience working in the Alaska business community is preferred.

The Alaska Railroad offers year-round passenger and freight train service and is a self-sustaining, state-owned corporation. With more than 650 miles of track, the Alaska Railroad serves more than 13 different municipalities and boroughs, connecting ports and communities from the Gulf of Alaska to the Interior. Headquartered in Anchorage, the Alaska Railroad has an average workforce size, recognizing seasonality, of 700 full-time employees and generates more than $180 million in revenue yearly. The corporation's assets are valued at more than $985 million dollars.
