Letter: Interior Gas Utility would be economic help in Fairbanks

When it comes to economic development in Alaska our second largest city needs the capacity and infrastructure to grow. The cost of heating homes in Fairbanks is creating a tremendous burden on the community's families and businesses. There is a real concern that this burden is threatening the very future of this important region. To move Fairbanks forward economically we need an entity focused on bringing gas to as many people as possible, as fast as possible. There is no better, quicker solution than the Interior Gas Utility (IGU). IGU is focused on growing a healthy economy in the North Star Borough through lower energy costs rather than profit. Today that is what our community needs to move from surviving to thriving.

As the Regulatory Commission of Alaska looks at this debate, I hope they see the statewide value of a community-focused utility.
