WASILLA -- A traffic stop for littering on the Parks Highway on Sunday ended up with two men jailed on drug and weapons charges and a third jailed on a felony arrest warrant, Alaska State Troopers said.
A trooper stopped 28-year-old Dana Holzworth after the trooper saw pieces flying off a rolled-up plastic tarp in the back of Holzworth's Ford F-250 pickup, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. The stop, near Trunk Road at 5:30 p.m., revealed Holzworth was driving on a revoked license and had a "user's amount" of crystal meth and Diazepam pills, as well as a rifle with a homemade silencer, troopers said. He also failed to notify the trooper he possessed a handgun.
A passenger, 25-year-old Mark Tyree, of Palmer, also failed to tell the trooper he had a handgun and also had meth and heroin on him, troopers said.
Holzworth was arrested on multiple drug and weapons charges as well as driving on a revoked license.
Tyree was arrested on drug and weapons charges.
Both were taken to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility without bail pending arraignment.
A third man in the pickup, 32-year-old Mark Komorowski, of Anchorage, was arrested on two outstanding felony warrants for theft and forgery. He was jailed at Mat-Su Pretrial on $11,000 bail.
