Through Our Eyes
The University of Alaska Anchorage Student Union Gallery hosts an exhibit of work by members of UAA's Camera Club. "Through Our Eyes" presents a wide range of direct and manipulated media involved in the realm of photographic arts. An opening reception takes place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The show will remain on display at 3211 Providence Drive through Oct. 3. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. KLEF birthday party
Anchorage's classical music radio station has been broadcasting for 25 years. There'll be a musical celebration 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hotel Captain Cook as Zuill Bailey, Chee-Yun, Marcus Thompson and Natasha Paremski present pieces by Bach, Rachmaninoff and Dvorak. The same performers are featured in Autumn Classics concerts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Alaska Pacific University. Bailey will lead the musicians in a free talk with samples of the music at 10 a.m. Saturday at APU's Grant Hall.
Dena'inaq' Huch'ulyeshi
Billed as the first major exhibition ever to focus on the history and culture of the Denai'ina Athabascan people, "The Dena'ina Way of Living" opens at the Anchorage Museum, 625 C St., on Saturday. Artifacts, film, learning stations and more will reveal the "invisible" indigenous people who have lived in upper Cook Inlet since 1,000 years before Anchorage was a tent city. The displays will remain up through Jan. 12.
