Troopers rescue hunters after boat capsizes in Talkeetna River

Alaska State Troopers rescued two Valley hunters Wednesday after their boat capsized about 10 miles up the Talkeetna River, stranding the men on an island. A report around noon described the men as wet and without gear, and said one had minor injuries, troopers said.

Robert Miller, 37, of Palmer, and Willy Rumbo, 40, of Wasilla, were returning from a hunting trip when their boat hit a log and sank, troopers said.

Troopers picked up Miller and Rumbo and transported them to the Talkeetna boat launch, where they were treated and released by medics.
