Forfeits help Service tennis team stop Eagle River

Forfeits made the difference in Service’s 6-3 victory over Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference tennis meet Tuesday.

Each team won three matches on the court, but Service picked up three additional victories via forfeit to claim the team win.

Hannah Spainhaur accounted for one of Eagle River’s wins when she outbattled Service’s Fiona Bruce 11-9 in a tiebreaker that decided their girls singles match.

Girls doubles 2 — Lindsay VonTish/Sam Moorhead (S) won by forfeit. Mixed doubles — Huiling Zhao/Matthew Stone (S) won by forfeit.
