Driver cited after truck crashes through gas station window

Anchorage police said they cited an Anchorage man after he drove a 2002 Ford F-150 through the front window of the East 6th Avenue Chevron station on Friday morning.

Robert Jackson, 21, collided with the building at 9:45 a.m., police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said. Jackson told officers the pickup's brakes failed after he pulled into the parking lot of the Chevron at Sixth Avenue and Ingra Street to ask for directions, Castro said. Jackson said he was only going 5 or 10 mph, she said.

The pickup drove over the sidewalk and into the store, destroying a plate-glass window and knocking over food items, Castro said. No one was hurt.

Jackson was driving without a license, she said. The truck wasn't his. He was cited for no valid operator's license.
