Alaska Gasline Development Corporation Chooses CH2M HILL for Program Management for Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline
Pipeline is a long-term boost to Alaska's economy
Anchorage – The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) and CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, announced today that CH2M HILL was selected to provide integrated-team Program Management for the Alaska Stand Alone Pipeline (ASAP) Project. The ASAP Project is a 737-mile, 36" natural gas pipeline originating at Prudhoe Bay and terminating near Point MacKenzie with a spur pipeline to Fairbanks. The pipeline is designed to develop a long-term energy solution for Fairbanks, South Central Alaska, and other communities along the route.
The ASAP Project is an essential piece of infrastructure that will benefit Alaskans through dependable and cost-effective natural gas supplies, particularly in a diminishing Cook Inlet natural gas supply environment. Its successful construction will demonstrate the state's ability to help gas suppliers deliver their products to market safely, efficiently, and sustainably, and will provide a viable gas supply for many Alaskans, as well as providing the potential for economic diversity and growth in key parts of the state.
CH2M HILL, ranked Number 1 in the world for program management of complex projects and Alaska's 8th largest employer, will provide an integrated-team program management platform. They will provide experienced program management personnel as well as systems, processes, and tools to support AGDC in finalizing the pipeline and processing plant designs as well as needed permitting, licensing and land actions. Major areas of scope to be supported include owner's engineering oversight, project controls, safety, permitting, licensing, quality, procurement, logistics and other services during the development phase of the ASAP.
AGDC expects construction of the pipeline to begin in mid-2016 and the ASAP Project to ship its first gas by late 2020. The development phase is expected to cost about $355 million, while the construction will cost around $7.7 billion.
