Starzec receives promotion at AEDC

The Anchorage Economic Development Corp. recently promoted James Starzec to research director. Starzec has worked in the AEDC research department over the last year as research coordinator, and will now play a more active role in developing research projects and continuing to expand company research capabilities.

"We couldn't be more pleased with James' contributions over the past year," said Bill Popp, president and CEO of AEDC. "His expertise has brought AEDC reports to a new level and we know he will be a tremendous asset to our team moving forward."

In his new role, Starzec will oversee large and small-scale project management, roundtable surveys and ongoing research. He will expand AEDC's access to new research sources and continue to produce high-quality final reports.

Starzec earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Prior to joining AEDC, Starzec served as a graduate intern at the Milwaukee Water Council where he collected and analyzed data of the Wisconsin water industry. He was also responsible for developing databases and directories for the water sector. As an undergraduate, Starzec interned at the Institute for Social Economic Research in Anchorage.

AEDC is a private, nonprofit organization developed in 1987 to encourage growth and to diversify the Anchorage economy. The organization has more than 230 investors representing all industries in Anchorage and Alaska. For more information visit www.AEDCweb.com.
