Missing Wasilla woman found after getting lost looking for firewood

Update, 6:15 p.m. Friday:

Alaska State Troopers said Anjel M. Sherman was found Friday afternoon after getting lost looking for firewood along the Parks Highway. She got lost in the woods, managed to find her way to a road and was in Fairbanks safe, said troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters.

A search was underway Friday afternoon for a 34-year-old Wasilla woman missing since Wednesday after she disappeared looking for firewood at a Parks Highway logging site, Alaska State Troopers said.

Anjel M. Sherman went to a logging area near Mile 327 of the highway with two other people, troopers said. Sherman was last seen around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. One of the other people in the group, 59-year-old Bryan Houghton of Fairbanks, reported her missing on Thursday just before 3 p.m, troopers said.

Friday afternoon, a troopers helicopter was searching from the air, troopers were driving area roads and volunteer firefighters from Nenana were looking for Sherman using four-wheelers, troopers spokeswooman Megan Peters said.
