Man found stabbed in Bethel apartment, rushed to Anchorage hospital

Bethel police found an unresponsive man stabbed multiple times bleeding in an apartment early Tuesday morning.

Police responded a Bethel Native Corp.-owned apartment complex at about 12:30 a.m. and found a 19-year-old Bethel man bleeding from his mouth and stomach.

Bethel Police Chief Laurance Elarton said the victim's wounds were not self-inflicted and that there was nothing in the apartment that could have been used in the stabbing.

The stabbing is under investigation, Elarton said.

The victim was taken to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp. clinic and was later flown to the Anchorage Native Medical Center, where he is listed in stable but serious condition, according to a Bethel police press statement.
