Power outages Wednesday morning affected residents from Indian and Bird just south of Anchorage to Hope and Summit Lake. Power was finally restored to all customers at 5:20 p.m., according to a Chugach Electric spokesman.

A 115-kilovolt transmission line between Anchorage and Cooper Landing went offline at 9:55 a.m., affecting more than 2,000 metered customers in Indian, Bird, Girdwood, Portage, Whittier, Sunrise, Hope and Summit Lake.

The power came back on in Indian, Bird and Girdwood just 12 minutes later, according to utility spokesman, Phil Steyer. Power for Portage and Whittier was back four minutes after that.

A helicopter pilot spotted a tree that had damaged the transmission line south of Summit Lake. A crew was dispatched to remove it and restore power to the last 213 customers, according to Sarah Wiggers, a Chugach spokeswoman.
