Fifteen-year-old Marielle Luke of Anchorage captured the Division II women's epee title at the North American Cup fencing championships in Milwaukee.
Luke was the top-seeded fencer in the division. She secured her first U.S. Fencing Association national title by beating 15-year-old Caroline Kleiner of Sparkill, N.Y., 15-10 in the gold medal final.
Luke was one of only two fencers with a B rating in the event, which drew 103 competitors -- the rest had lower ratings.
The Division II women's epee was one of several divisions in which championships were awarded.
