Coast Guard rescues boaters near Seward

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Long Island towed a cabin cruiser to Seward before it ran aground Thursday afternoon, according to a Coast Guard officer.

The 37-foot Mystery Lady notified the Coast Guard Sector Anchorage after the the vessel lost propulsion one mile offshore in Resurrection Bay at about 1:30 p.m., according to Petty Officer 3rd Class Grant DeVuyst.

The Long Island and a Jayhawk helicopter met with the Mystery Lady 300 yards from shore, according to DeVuyst.

Coast Guard towed the vessel to Seward and handed off the tow to the Seward Fire Department at about 7 p.m., according to DeVuyst.
