Dimond, Kodiak perfect in volleyball pool play

Kodiak and Dimond both posted 8-0 records to claim the top seeds in their respective pools Friday on the first day of the Dimond-Service volleyball tournament.

The Bears and the Lynx were the only teams to emerge undefeated after a day's worth of action at Dimond and Service.

Chugiak and South both went 7-1 in their, while Palmer's 7-1 record put the Moose atop their pool.

Bracket play begins Saturday. The championship match of the 20-team tournament is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. at Dimond.

Pool C — Kodiak 8-0, Service 6-2, West Valley 3-4-1, Soldotna 2-6, Eagle River 0-7-1. Pool D — Palmer 7-1, West 6-2, Mt. Edgecumbe 5-3, Bartlett 1-7, Nikiski 1-7.

East 3, Juneau 0

Taria Page's 10 kills propelled East past Juneau in three sets Thursday in a nonconference volleyball match.

The T-Birds got six kills from Kyla Liufua and four from Jaya Bannarbie in the 25-23, 25-19, 25-17 triumph.
