Letter: Residency does indeed matter

Re: "Sullivan's Alaska residency doesn't matter in Senate race":

In her recent letter written in deference to Alaska residency and the Senate race, Margaret Hansen purports to terribly misconstrue our federal political system. If one's devotion to a particular state isn't solidified by living in that said state, I say, sure, go vote for a recent implant to the state as your national senator and hope they represent your state interests. This represents what's wrong with our country: too many individuals choose ignorance over prudence.

Senators historically represent state interests, while representatives tout the "whims and wills" of the people. Sullivan is running to be an "Alaskan" senator, not an "American" senator.
