The man who barricaded himself inside a Fairview apartment with a gun only to be arrested as he left the complex wearing a woman's wig appeared in court Saturday with a crescent-shaped gash on his swollen forehead.

Shane Street, 46, who had held off police for five hours, had a defender at his brief appearance Saturday -- the girlfriend who initially called the cops saying he was threatening her with a gun.

The girlfriend spoke to the court by phone and was identified only as "P.C." She said Street has never acted violent toward her in their 3-year relationship and that Street lives in her apartment, which is the one he had barricaded himself inside.

She said she didn't know what set him off, and volunteered that she doesn't know whether he was on drugs at the time.

"It's like he wasn't there," she told the court.
