The Anchorage Hockey Association has teamed up with the NHL and USA Hockey, as part of a national program, to promote Saturday's local edition of the "Try Hockey For Free'' clinic at Ben Boeke Arena.
The event is open to kids ages 4-9, and is set for 3-4 p.m. Saturday. And it's free. Did we mention it's free? Organizers ask players to show up 45 minutes early -- that's by 2:15 p.m. at least -- to get dressed in gear.

The "Try Hockey For Free'' day is taking place all around the country in nearly 500 locations covering 48 states. It's part of USA Hockey's Come Play Hockey Month and its the third straight year for the event nationally.
Last year, according to USA Hockey, more than 10,000 kids nationwide hit the ice for their first time on "Try Hockey For Free'' day.
