Just some quick name-dropping on some Alaska connections and how they fared tonight.
In the ECHL:
Rookie winger William Rapuzzi of Anchorage had an assist on the game-tying goal and scored Idaho's lone shootout strike from six shooters in a 4-3 shootout loss to visiting Ontario. Former UAA winger Tommy Grant had an apple for Idaho too, but got snuffed in the shootout.
Former Alaska Aces winger Alex Hudson picked up his first goal of the season for Colorado in a 6-2 win over San Francisco.
Former UAA winger Sean Wiles picked up his first goal for Reading in a 6-1 win at Wheeling.
And former UAA defenseman Luka Vidmar and former Aces center Chris Langkow each had a helper for South Carolina in a 5-3 win over visiting Gwinnett.
On the Division I men's college front:
Winger Casey Bailey of Anchorage racked his first goal of the season for Penn State, and fired an eyebrow-raising, game-high 10 shots on goal in a 5-4 win at Robert Morris. Former UAA forward Eric Scheid picked up his third goal of the campaign for Penn State. Game did not lack for action -- Robert Morris outshot Penn State, 52-41.
Michigan Tech goaltender Pheonix Copley of North Pole and crew lost 3-2 in OT at Michigan, but can't hang it on Copley, who made 40 saves. Copley's W-L-T ain't pretty -- 1-4-0 -- but you have to like his goals-against average (2.20) and save percentage (.937).
