Former UAA goaltender Nathan Lawson, who has been strong in the AHL this season for the Binghamton Senators, was promoted to NHL Ottawa today on an emergency basis.

The promotion came after Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson took a knee to the head in a game Sunday and left the ice on a stretcher. He was walking around later, but clearly they'll give him some time to heal.

Lawson for Binghamton is 5-1-0 with a 2.22 goals-against average and .931 save percentage. He played several games for the NY Islanders a few seasons ago.

No telling how long Lawson will be up in the NHL -- could be short term -- but every day up makes him some money. His NHL salary is $650,000 this season (that will be pro-rated, of course, depending on how long he is with Ottawa) and his AHL salary is $150,000, according to
