Four men and four women from the UAA cross country teams have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-conference academic team.
The eight are among a group of 68 runners honored, including four with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages. One of those four is from UAA — Anchorage sophomore Sarah Freistone.
Also honored were junior Bryn Haebe, senior Christi Schmitz and sophomore Jessica Pahkala for the women, and juniors Kevin Rooke and Isaac Kangogo and sophomores Jesse Miller and Dominik Notz for the men.
UAF landed a conference-best six men on the team, including Michael Fehrenbach of Germany, who boasts one of those 4.0s. Also on the team are Kenneth Brewer of Chugiak, Isaac Lammers of Eagle River, Tux Seims of Homer, Ross MacDougall of Oregon and Max Olex of Germany. Alyson McPhetres of Chugiak was the lone UAF woman on the team.
