Ilya Turchaninov scored four goals Saturday, including the game-winner, to lift West past Chugiak 5-3 in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Ice Arena.
Turchaninov’s third goal of the game came on the power play with 72 seconds left in the second period. It broke a 3-3 tie forged when Chugiak scored three unanswered goals in a span of 3:12 early in the second period.
Turchaninov, who scored both of West’s first-period goals, added an empty-netter with five seconds left in the game. Kevin Hodsdon scored West’s other goal, striking early in the second period to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
The Mustangs roared back with a power-play goal from Taylor Garner and two from Kris Tomazevic, who scored unassisted both times.
West goaltender Joe Chekan stopped 14 shots; Chugiak’s Jack Straub stopped 24.
