Anchorage group raising funds for Typhoon Haiyan relief

Starting Tuesday, Anchorage's Alaskero Partnership is accepting donations for relief efforts in the Philippines.

Cash and checks made out to Catholic Relief Services can be dropped off at Kaladi Brothers Coffee locations at 6921 Brayton Drive and at New Sagaya Midtown, located at 3700 Old Seward Highway. Collection jars will be at registers.

Catholic Relief Services is a U.S.-based nonprofit that says it is working to give 100,000 families displaced by Typhoon Haiyan shelter, essential living supplies, clean water and sanitation.

The Alaskero Partnership was founded by Filipino-American University of Alaska-Anchorage faculty and community members and says it "to increase visibility, vitality, and sense of community among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, especially youth."
