No shortage of streaks are on the line as the city's two principal hockey clubs head into the weekend.
The ECHL's Alaska Aces lost their nine-game winning streak last week. But they carry a four-game, home-ice winning streak into Friday night's opener of a three-game set against the Las Vegas Wranglers at Sullivan Arena.
Two of the Aces' biggest guns are also riding hot streaks. Winger Peter Sivak has generated at least one point in eight straight games -- and multiple points in five of those -- while delivering 6-11--17 totals in that stretch. Captain Nick Mazzolini, who centers Sivak and left wing Evan Trupp, has furnished 3-8--11 totals in his eight-game point streak.
Two newcomers -- goaltender Olivier Roy and forward Mathew Sisca -- are expected to make their Aces debuts Friday.
Meanwhile, UAA carries a two-game, Western Collegiate Hockey Association winning streak into its series at Bemidji State (Minn.), which opens Friday night.
The Seawolves are looking to win three straight league games for the first time since early 2011.
Senior center Matt Bailey owns a streak in which he has generated his club's last four game-winning goals, and senior goalie Rob Gunderson is likely to start Friday, which would give him four straight starts for the first time in nearly a year.
