Prep hockey: Results from Friday's games

Service 2, Wasilla 1

Tyler Miknich scored the game-winning goal in the third period Friday, lifting Service past Wasilla 2-1 in a nonconference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena.

Assists on the goal that broke a 1-1 tie went to Brad Kuper and Giorgione Miles.

Kuper scored in the first period to give the Cougars an early lead, but Wasilla tied the game in the second period on Austin Cook's goal.

Service goalie Angus Klancher stopped 24 shots; Wasilla's Wyatt Monear turned back 21.

West 7, Lathrop 1

Paul Norris, Codie Cupe and Alex Bardsley each scored two goals Friday to power West's 7-1 nonconference romp over the Lathrop hockey team at Ben Boeke Arena.

Norris and Cupe each scored first-period goals to give the Eagles a 2 0 lead at the first intermission.

West goaltender Joe Checken faced only nine shots on goal and lost the shutout when Alex Parker scored for Lathrop in the second period. Ryan Ebenal stopped 25 shots for the Malemutes.

Chugiak 9, Kenai 1

Chugiak, sparked by Kris Tomazevic's four goals, breezed past Kenai 9-1 in a nonconference hockey game at the McDonald Center on Friday.

Goaltender D.J. Paxson tallied 32 saves and didn't allow a goal until Jake Eubank scored an unassisted goal midway through the third period.

The Mustangs unleashed 49 shots on two Kenai goaltenders and scored four times while shorthanded.
