Wasilla 3, Dimond 2

Behind two goals from Tanner Schachle and another from Andrew Cooley, the Wasilla hockey team knocked off two-time defending state champion Dimond 3-2 in a nonconference game at Brett Ice Arena in Wasilla on Tuesday.

Schachle scored in the first period and the second to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead going into the third. Dimond cut the lead to 2-1 with just more than 10 minutes left in the final frame, on a goal from Aidon Teilborg, but Cooley struck less than 90 seconds later to put the Warriors up 3-1. Dimond's Blake Glover tacked on the game's final goal with a second remaining.

Wasilla goalie Wyatt Monear recorded 26 saves, and Dimond got 21 saves from goalie Ashton Good.

E. River 11, Bartlett 3

Eagle River erupted for six goals in the third period and got hat tricks from Schuyler Davis, Blake Rinkey and Kyle Johnson on Tuesday in an 11-3 Cook Inlet Conference hockey win over Bartlett at Ben Boeke Arena.

The teams were tied through one period, but the Wolves churned out four goals in the second to lead 5-2. Davis and Johnson each scored twice in the third period, with Rinkey notching his third and Blake Halfpenny adding the second of his two goals.

Kyle Sun scored twice for Bartlett, once in the first period and once in the third. William Vandenbos struck for a second-period goal, and Mason Rafter dished two assists.

Eagle River outshot Bartlett 46-19.
