A pin-happy Kotzebue wrestling posted a one-point victory over the Class 4A defending state champion South Wolverines in a dual meet Thursday at South.
The Huskies pinned opponents in six matches, including the final five matches from 170 pounds to 285 pounds, to eke out the 39-38 win.
South won eight of the 15 matches, three by forfeit, one by pin and four by decision, but Kotzebue prevailed because of all of the pins, which earn more points than decisions.
The night's quickest pin came from Kotzebue's Josh Roetman, who took the 195-pound match in 74 seconds.
The dual was one of two on Thursday for the Wolverines, who downed Dimond 71-18 in the other.
