A car crashed into a country store in Wasilla Wednesday night, sending firewood into the storefront.

Erica Magee, 20, was driving a Chevrolet S-10 without a valid license when the brakes failed, according to Megan Peters, Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman.

The car hit a stack of firewood that was for sale outside the Valley Country Store, near Church Road and Seldon Road, around 7:15 p.m. and pushed the wood through the siding, said Kyle Blake, an assistant manager at Valley Country Store.

Blake said the store is scarred with a hole that measures less than 2 feet by 2 feet.

Troopers said the owner of the car, Camilo Nantes, 31, had allowed Magee to drive his vehicle to the store knowing she didn't have a license. He has been summoned for related charges.

For Magee, a charge of driving in violation of an instructional permit has been forwarded to the district attorney's office, Peters said.
